Heritage and Culture

We preserve and celebrate Mui Wo's rich historical and cultural legacy through dedicated research, detailed documentation, innovative digital tools, and collaborative conservation projects. By actively involving residents in oral history collection, storytelling sessions with elders, community workshops, and hands-on heritage activation, these initiatives safeguard irreplaceable local traditions and knowledge. They reinforce a strong sense of cultural identity, promote meaningful intergenerational dialogue, deepen community pride, and ensure that Mui Wo's unique rural heritage remains alive, vibrant, and accessible for residents, visitors, and future generations alike.

LCF - Heritage conversation and community engagement

Year 2023 - 2024

The Project supported by the Lantau Conservation Fund centers on preserving and activating Mui Wo's cultural and historical heritage while building stronger community connections. In collaboration with Outdoor Wildlife Learning Hong Kong, we developed a mobile phone app that guides users through Mui Wo's hidden stories, landmarks, and traditions via interactive maps, audio narratives, and augmented reality features. The project engages residents of all ages—through heritage walks, storytelling sessions with elders, and community workshops—to document and share local knowledge, fostering intergenerational bonds, a deeper sense of place, and sustainable conservation practices for future generations.
